1/13/2010 - The Mississippi Case Management Consortium (MCMC) has time-limited resources -- we need your help to get displaced families back into safe, sustainable housing. Whether you can sponsor a family at $100, $500, or even $1000, every dollar counts.
It's simple -- visit the Mississippi Case Management Consortium's Adopt-A-Family website (www.AdoptAKatrinaFamily.org) and find a family that "catches your eye" and whose needs fit your budget. Contact the agency responsible for that family, and a representative will walk you through the simple steps to complete the necessary paperwork. Contributions to MCMC Affiliate organizations to sponsor families are fully tax deductible. (Consult your tax professional for details.)

4/9/2008 - Our VOAD Partners on the ground in the affected areas are doing great things to assisted those disaster victims in need.
There is an expected weather event forecasted for Thursday evening Friday morning. The weather cell could hit our area as far north as Little Rock, AR and as far south as the Jackson area. The weather is expected to bring 3-4 inches of rain as well as high winds.
State and Federal agencies are on the ground still conducting damage assessments. There is still a possibility of a presidential declaration. We are waiting to hear from officials once assessments are complete.
Reports from American Red Cross partners report they are opening a client services center and are attempting to open shelters. ARC is partnering with the National Organization to set up a headquarters.
The Salvation Army partners report they have been feeding those and providing assistance when needed. They report a large decline in number of clients with needs. They anticipate standing down their feeding operations very soon.
Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service has offered to request AmeriCorps*NCCC for disaster debris clean-up. They could be on the ground within 24 hours of a request. We are awaiting to ensure the need for these teams.
There has been a concern expressed about the following issues:
* Advocacy for clients
* Case Management
* Outreach/Communications
* Sheltering&
